Fans of trek in China

Staying out of China is a little bit hard for me to get involved with
my country and my culture. Sometimes, I would go to Tianya Club and
read some hottest original posts on the Web site. This makes me hook
up with the current situations of life, politics, and economics in
China.

Tianya means the end of the sky. The Web site's office is in Hainan
province, the (or the second if exclude Taiwan) largest island in
China. At the southest end of Hainan province, there is a famous
resort place with beautiful scenaries and folklores. This place is
named the end of the sky, Tianya in Chinese. This is what this
Internet club was named after. It has become the hottest BBS Web site
in China. One can find lots of good posts there. It is the fragrance
in my boring life.

Today, I browsed several interesting posts. Here I would recommend these two:
1) Bycle travel, Hubei to Hainan:

2) Hiking to Motuo, Tibet:

Hubei province is in the center of mainland China. From Hubei to
Hainan, it was like from Chicago to Houston. The originator of this
post is in his 40s. He sounds like a middle school teacher and has a
son studying in Shenzhen University, Guangdong (or Canton). This trip
cost him 1800 renminbi, which is about 250 us dollars. His bicycle was
bought with 800 renminbi, which is 100 us dollars. The trip is about
6000 kilometers and took him 30 days (July 2 to July 30) for this
round-trip bycicle travel in mid-south China. Since he is not a
yongman, his courage incurred lots of respects. Since his posts put
lots of photos about the routes, restaurants, office buildings,
universities, friends, and scences of China today. I would like to
post this link here for people who would like to share his photos.

The second URL is a post originated by a girl close to 30. She and a
boy, who she called Lao Wu (Old Mr. Wu), flew into Tibet and hiked to
Motuo, the only county that does not have a regular bus communication
in today's China. She is a fans of some Chinese young people who are
fascinated about Tibetan culture and geographical scenaries. Her
hiking from Lassa to Motuo is full of risks. I can hardly imagine
wether I can handle so much heavy-duty work and hiking even though
this could be one of my dreams as well. Since July 27, she and her
friend started a single hiking trip from Lassa to Motuo. On the fifth
day, they started to hire a local Tibetan for carrying their packages.
August 1st is the last day of this hiking. They spent August 2nd in
Motuo for rest and recreation. Envelops of the local Motuo People's
Municipal Office and the post stamps are something very precious for
these travellers. This girl was very lucky, she got 29 plus two more
envelops for free. And she chopped two stamps of the local post office
on each of these envelops. The local post office is not for letter
delivery but for deposits. In China, there is a kind of deposits made
through post office. She also put some of her personal photos there.
By looking at this slim girl, foreigners may have a feeling about
assorted kinds of lifes and ideas of today's Chinese youngmen.
